CALHOUN COUNTY – The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department has arrested a Raymond man on charges of sexual abuse of a child, and he is currently in the Calhoun County Jail under $500,000 bond.
Calhoun County Sheriff Greg Pollan said Troy Stewart, 39, of Raymond, was arrested Wednesday on five counts of sexual battery of a child under age of 14 and one count of touching a child for lustful purposes.
“He turned himself in to us after we contacted him in Raymond,” said Pollan. “The child recently came forward, and we began our investigation.”
Pollan said the case is still under investigation and no other arrests are expected at this time.
“We are asking the community to talk with those who have had contact with Stewart and call us if there is something they need to tell us,” said Pollan. “”The events that led to these charges are believed to have started in 2001 and gone through about 2010.”
The crimes allegedly occurred in the Banner community.
