OXFORD – Oxford High School’s cafeteria wing was evacuated early Wednesday afternoon because of a fire. The Oxford Fire Department and Oxford Police Department were called to the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but school officials believe a faulty motor in a kitchen appliance was to blame. No injuries were reported.

The new high school, which cost approximately $30 million to build, opened Jan. 7.
